CONTINUATION OF A BRAND – Cabbage Patch Kids Splashin’ Kid
Cabbage Patch Kids were an instant phenomenon! Coleco Industries was interested in expanding the brand, and to do this successfully, there needed to be a way for the consumer to instantly recognize two things: that this was an authentic ‘Kid, and that this ‘Kid was different. By establishing a “fashion photo” back of the package with a different child playing with his or her special ‘Kid, with the name of the new ‘Kid incorporated in the logo, and with a subtle color difference in the band around the open window and fading from the unique color at the bottom to the traditional Cabbage Patch yellow at the top, the mission was accomplished!
